Summer Sports

As has been our custom the past 3 summers with Minnie... and ALL.THE.SPORTS. overlap every.single.night. we let the girls pick what they want to do... then we just show up :) Most often they chose soccer and track over bball but on a beautiful summer night....

I LOVE SUMMER!

It was 96 degrees... about a MILLION % humidity and this boss babe raked that pit (and ran the event for part of it) for 4 hours.... and she LOVED it??? 

Hot, sticky and sweaty... and headed from the track...

to bball... AT LEAST... Gorham's gym is A/C. That was a WELCOMED surprise!!!

and as if we went from HERE where she was just WATCHING her big sister in summer track

to her LAST regular season summer track meet... onto qualifiers and states!!

Beating the Heat

Just no other way to beat the heat than lakeside or poolside... we have been upwards of mid 90's and in fact they CANCELED the summer track meet for the week because of the heat index. This has not happened in ALL the years we have had a team that Husband or I can EVER remember.... crazy hot...

These two had a sleepover in Abbey's camper and went paddle boarding at sunset...

These two had a sleepover and then we grabbed her siblings and hit the local pond where Minnie met us...

Jumping into a pool post soccer practice with all your clothes on in the summer at 9PM....it's what childhood is made for!

Hanging at L&L's with 42 bottles of sunscreen and 86 water bottles... obvi!

Mostly Wordless Wednesday: Miss B Gets a Guitar!

Rewind to seeing her classes for 8th grade and realizes she was signed up for Intro to Guitar. She BEGGED me to switch her out of it... I said "NO". You are musically gifted, you love to sing and SOMEONE has to play the guitar at a campfire... mine as well be YOU... 

SO.... she LOVED it.... and has signed up for it at the High School....

A co-worker told me about a grant program that I could apply to and try to get Miss B a FREE guitar... yes please...my request was approved and they ordered her a BRAND NEW exactly what she hoped for... acoustic guitar! Bring on the CAMPFIRES!

 

The Weekend Report: Full Circle Moment

Husband loves Shaws. We gals HATE Shaws. All Husband wanted was company on his weekly trip to Shaws. All the girls wanted was NOT to go....:) but.... I offered and went... (they stayed home! ha!)

 Minnie had asked to go paddle boarding but the radar didn't look great and then I texted her this picture...YIKES!

By the time we were done and groceries were unloaded the storms had passed so we loaded up to head out... my water baby loves a pick up truck, dirt road and her paddle board!

Full circle moment... Husband bought me this kayak for my birthday when I was about 4-5 months PREGNANT with Minnie. I had wanted one for SO long but it wasn't until I was almost at the point where I wouldn't be able to FIT in one that I got it :) HA! It has hung in the shed mostly unused for the past 10 years or so but once Minnie got her paddle board I knew it was coming out of retirement!

 Husband got it down for us and she and I gave it a good scrubbing and hose out.... and now here I am on the pond with that baby....

 

Feels very surreal but I am excited for more dates with my big girl this summer!
