Gal's Room Renovation

A couple of weeks before April vacation I had been tossing around renovating the gals room. In my "head" it wasn't going to take long at ALL ;) I just needed to convince Husband.....he came over to the dark side and agreed to freshen it up. It has been almost 20 years since ANYTHING had been done to this room. Original paint, ceiling paint and carpet since we moved in.... thankfully it was neutral so it worked for a long time but it was definitely time to let the gals have some say to their space....

BEFORE:

I had some major pieces that I knew were not going to change so we had to work with the darker wood ceiling fan....

and the blue pieces of furniture that I refinished back HERE

My gals are pack-rats....I know....

So on Saturday we hauled everything out of their room and set them up for a cozy sleepover in the den for a few days... talk about a fire hazard....

and Husband got to work ripping up carpet and padding and making trips to the dump while it was still open....

Miss B and I started tackling all the staples that were buried in the floor... one at a time... it probably took us about an hour to get them all up...

and clearly she was thrilled about it....

On Sunday morning Husband brought the coffee nice and early and I started in on the ceiling... I got ALMOST all of it done and my shoulders just could not take anymore so my knight in shining bball shorts came in to finish it up strong....

When we got home from church I ran to get the paint in the color the gals had picked out. "Tame Teal". (Here's hopin' ;) On Saturday night my friend Jess had texted me and said "let me know if you need any help".... I immediately texted back and said "I need help. BYO paint brush" Lucky for me, her Dad is the one that did our living room and she is WELL versed in painting.... she ROCKED the edges and the ceiling and we were DONE... two coats and everything picked up in a little over 2 hours.... AWESOME!

On Monday Minnie and started sanding and priming the beds before we went to do a 5K with our friends... I was REALLY hoping to get them all primed before we left but we were just a LITTLE short on time....

Meanwhile.... while we were outside Husband was tackling the MOST AMAZING FLOOR! I LOVE IT SO MUCH! We are going to I'm trying to convince him to put the same thing in our bedroom once we are on summer break... I think it looks so amazing! He did SUCH a great job! And SUPER quick!

On Tuesday afternoon I jumped back into the beds.... All I had was white ceiling paint so I'm not a HUGE fan of how they feel and I might do a top coat this summer of something with some sheen but for now they are clean and white and MATCHING!

Ready to go on the finished floors....

On Wednesday morning Miss B and I went to Target with CountryMum and picked out these rugs and comforters.... in the afternoon we piled into my car with MIL and CountryMum and headed to Hobby Lobby for signs. This was a two pack...the gals both loved them and I love the character traits....

I'm so so so HAPPY with how it turned out and LOVE it when a project is COMPLETE!!!! So thankful for Husband and good friends coming alongside to get it done!

The Weekend Report

Cuz pretty much nothin' to report during the week... ;) (but still dealing with the dog and the kidney stone so laying low is not a bad thing)

Gals snagged a sleepover with their buds (and the pooch who thought he was going to be able to snuggle the whole night but Daddy made him get on his OWN bed)

It takes them about 30 seconds for the playroom to look like this....but so happy to have this space for them and I LOVE when they use it!

Miss B let me do double-buns for church on Sunday and I feel like these days are so short so I had to snag a pic ;) I LOVE ME SOME DOUBLE-BUNS!

I have been wanting to paint the free table that I got to go under the deck on the new cement pad since I got it....and even though I really LOVED my yellow bench it just didn't show up against the siding and I wanted a pop of color under there. We went to Lowe's on Saturday and the gals picked out the colors ;)

AND they did the painting!!

I think it came out so cute! They did a great job! I'm going to grab another can of the coral because the table def. needs another coat but I am so happy with how they came out :) Fun for sure!

I kept the fire going....

While Husband hung the NEW SHED DOORS HE BUILT!!!! SO AMAZING! Productive and fun weekend for sure!

Saturday ~ Of the Weekend Report

On Saturday Husband had STILL (and has STILL not passed the stone) but was feeling well enough to be out and about. The gals have been BEGGING to go to Jordan's Furniture to do the ropes course. Miss B has been asking for MONTHS (probably as soon as it opened). Things like this are her JAM for sure! They waited patiently in line for about 30 min. and then they were OFF!

Pictures are not GREAT but man did they have a blast! While Husband and I sat and enjoyed watching them we chatted about going to lunch at Portland Pie because Husband had never been. We had such a FUN day together as a family, enjoying each other and laughing..... and then.....

We got home.....Minnie was in front of me on the basement stairs and the STINK hit us BOTH as soon as she opened the door... I KNEW... I KNEW.... he had done it again.....

My bedroom was COVERED in dog diarrhea

splattered EVERYWHERE.....

Husband immediately left for Hannaford to rent this cleaner THAT DIDN'T EVEN WORK... I feel like we just made a wet, nasty mess... it still smelled so bad when we went to bed that I slept in Miss B's twin bed because I couldn't handle the stink.... :( We are PRETTY sure this time was because of the fish oil we are trying to give him to help with his joint pain but we stopped that REAL quick....

I texted Sky and SIL L.... if anyone is looking for me.....

DON'T.

Wednesday (a week ago)

So on Tuesday, when we left off, Defense was headed to the Vet bright and early Wednesday AM. Husband was still struggling with a kidney stone but was able to get him loaded into the back of the car. He really hates the ramp and he cannot jump in anymore :(

I was a hot-mess express thinking about him and Husband called me en route to the Vet. He said that he was really not feeling well and had been encouraged to go to the walk-in clinic to make sure that his kidney function was still OK and to see if there was anything they could do to help.... I arrived at work and found what was basically a war room... we had a positive COVID case and we were trying to get parents notified that their kids were going to be remote learners for the next week and 1/2. At some point during the chaos of phone calls, contact tracing and material pick-up we found out that we had a SECOND positive case. Unfortunately the buses were already en route and we had to hold kiddos in their classroom until parents could come and pick them up.

Around 1PM the Vet called confirming what we knew was the case... two torn "ACL's", major inflammation and no "cure" aside from major surgery.

Thankfully, Husband's kidney function was OK but he was in no shape to go to track practice so I left work early to go home and pick him up to go get our big boy. Thank GOODNESS gals were at the CountryRents where we just zipped to pick them up and come home and crash.

So just to re-cap, my pooch is getting bad news at the Vet, my Husband drove himself to the ER and we had TWO positive cases at school.

Exhausted doesn't begin to describe it.
