At 12:00 on the day before break Husband's boss came to him and told him he had been identified as a "close contact" with someone that tested positive for Covid-19. Husband only had 1 absence on Monday/Tuesday so he knew without a doubt who it was. He KNEW he was NEVER within 6 feet (always wearing a mask) never mind 3 feet and not for more than 15 minutes.... which would make him NOT a "close contact" however the rules are the rules and he was sent home to quarantine and start his vacation "safe at home". We told our families, he scheduled a test and he hung out at home. After a negative test and some conversations it was decided that we would forego our tradition of going to the CountryRents on Christmas morning and head over once he was "freed". Although the gals were sad and we were bummed to not have our tradition... it all ended up a blessing since as you can see from these pictures there was a bit of a situation with the tree.... on Christmas Eve, Husband unplugged the tree, said goodnight to Defense and heard the unmistakeable sound of the tree starting to fall... he was able to catch it but then he was STUCK. He couldn't let go or it would surely hit the TV, he couldn't holler for fast asleep ME... so he tried to shove it back into the stand. Thank GOODNESS Minnie woke up (the ONLY time I might be happy she is SUCH a light sleeper!) Poor girl thought Santa was there and she shouldn't go across the balcony to the bathroom... Husband saw her and told her to come and wake me up... we were able to get it at least stationary and then propped it with the step ladder for the night...
By 8:57 AM this was the view of my tree, the ornaments all taken care of and back in the basement, my living room all put back together, vacuumed and I was NOT MAD about that ;)
I also was NOT MAD about this amazing gift from Husband! He went above and beyond (as usual at Christmas! ;) with the help up his little Elves (SIL L and Sky) and I am now NOT COLD when I walk outside... nor will I get wet... I am in LOVE with my new jacket... it's so cozy, so warm, so functional... now bring back sports so I can watch my kid play soccer in the pouring rain and not get WET!! :)
We headed over to MIL's for lunch and while it was not ALL the normal crew it was still a FUN crew...
The sign of a Christmas day well spent ;)
My view from the kitchen that night... Mimi jammies on and playing games on the new squishy carpet... my heart was full and happy....
Gotta love when you get new jammie bottoms for Christmas and they match the well-loved, well-worn, well-faded top you already wear from your big cousin... so funny!
It was not the day we had hoped or our "normal" but it was a great day all around and kinda nice to have the slower pace (minus the mad rush to get the tree down safely ;)
