So I've done posts like this before... if you don't like this sort of thing... don't scroll down...
In June/July Husband had an appointment with his urologist after getting a kidney stone stuck back in March. The Dr. confirmed he has stones in both kidneys but his left was far worse and some of the stones on the scans he had done appeared to be VERY large. He gave us the options on what/how to handle them and we went home to talk things over and think about it. Husband called the office to see what they had for availability and he was given dates the week after summer track was over and before pre-season for golf. The ONE week of our summer with nothing going on....poor guy!
He had his first of two appointments on Wednesday where he had to lay on his stomach AWAKE while they put a tube into his back... it was supposed to take about an hour... over two hours later they finally came out to get Miss B and I.... to say that I had PTSD being in the same waiting room and it taking WAY too long is a bit of an understatement...
But we got him back and wrapped up... (again... if you don't like blood and guts you can skip this all together)
By the morning it looked like this....
The plan was for the Dr to go in through that tube in his back and blast the HUGE kidney stones that were in there... he was optimistic about getting them all but said it does tend to turn into a snowglobe so no guarantees.... this picture is when we thought things were fine... Husband was scheduled for 1:40... at 3:30 the DR finally came in to talk to us and tell us they were ready and mentioned he'd monitor Husband overnight and he could leave in the morning... uh... WHAT?! I'M SORRY... SPEND THE NIGHT!?!?!? This was not ANYTHING ANYONE had said to us in ALL the conversations about the procedure and we had been hanging out in the hospital for TWO DAYS....
We agreed to play it by ear...and with the surgery pushed back so long.... Minnie was coming home from camping, SIL L brought her home so I ran Miss B home so they could be together...

You know you have been at the hospital a long time when they shut the LIGHTS off in reception of the day surgery waiting room and you are the LAST one left.....the Dr finally came out to talk to me after 6:00 and explained that it really would be best for Husband to stay considering the equipment he still had on his body....I wanted to talk to Husband but sat waiting for another HOUR before an RN called me... I told him I wanted to talk to Husband and thankfully he put him on the phone... we decided that the Dr was right and we needed him to stay the night....
I FINALLY got in to see him around 8.... made sure he was all set, chatted with his RN who was a past student of his... hahahaha and lives down the road from the high school.... and got home around 9:30.....

Got him home around 11ish the next morning and poor guy had to deal with a stent for another week....
In the MEANTIME.....on Wednesday he went in for what should have been a "quick" office procedure to remove a lipoma from the back of his neck... because things just can't go smoothly for Husband... the surgeon got in there and realized it was not what she thought and it was connected to his muscle!! She told him she could stop doing what she was doing and book him an OR or... she could keep going and see how he tolerated it... I think the thought of another OR was enough to have him tell her to keep going.....
WAY more than what it was supposed to be....
LOOKING WAY BETTER...
It was a BRUTAL week or so but SO happy that Husband had these things taken care of NOW... before he gears up for a MAJOR surgery in November... more to come....
