worship, ER Visits, a new TV and the pukes

Pretty much my last few days.... I'll spare you the photos of anything not adorable i.e. ER visit and pukes. You're welcome.

On Saturday night we (gals) dressed up and had Husband take us to a Night of Worship in the big city. I think it is so good for my girls to see how others worship the same God in very different ways. It was a good time albeit a little too loud for my crew and we were not able to stay for the 2nd 1/2 because of how late it was getting....

On Sunday morning the phone rang at 6:45AM... you know that is never good... I could hear Husband talking to CountryMum... apparently they had gone into the ER because CountryDad had been up all night with chest pains...never something to take lightly.... JJ came down and we hung out waiting for some answers... it wasn't a heart attack or a blood clot so those are GOOD things... maybe a pulled muscle or a bout of pneumonia but even the PCP wasn't real sure. Gotta love medicine.

After I got home we got ready to entertain and celebrate SEVEN birthdays... In order of dates, Breanna, Dawson, Brandon, PQ, ME!, Husband and Grampa R ~

Grammy R gave Dawson his Dad's college jacket... SO COOL... I LOVED this!

Can't believe this guy is headed to COLLEGE in a few months... :( WOWZERS.

Crazy Monkeys...

and... clearly I must have been STARTING to come down with something because Daws pointed out the missing letter to me... I had no.idea.
BLOWN AWAY by our family... they all pitched in and got a new flat screen TV for us for our birthdays....I am completely OVERWHELMED. Just TOO much!

Right after I was chatting it up with Breanna about lovely things like flowers and gardening and Miss B came over and tried to tell me she didn't feel well... and then I was catching yiff in her shirt and my hands and figured OUT she didn't feel well... ack. Into the tub with her, sweet MIL and Grammy R cleaned up my carpet, Breanna ran to get more clothes for Miss B and SIL L helped get Miss B dried up  and dressed again... that was it. She was fine. She laid down on my bedroom floor for a little while but she said she felt fine and came back downstairs to eat more food and hang out. STRANGE....

Until we got a call that Dawson had to pull over on the way home from the party....

and I woke up at 10PM on Tuesday and was up every 20 min - 1 hour for the ENTIRE NIGHT. Down for the count all day Wednesday. In the 6 1/2 years I have stayed home with our babies this was the FIRST day he has had to take off because the Mama was sick...

Meanwhile, Bets is in the "Big Building" getting more fluids and all the anti-nausea meds they have because the chemo has not allowed her to keep ANY food down for a week now...

NOT FUN I TELL YAH. NOT FUN.

In Other News....

On Friday, April 29th SIL Bets heard from her doctor's office... in her words on FB

"This is a very hard post for me...I was so hoping that I would never ever have to utter these words again....but it just wasn't to be! My cancer is back😥. It's even worse than before. It is stage 4...it's gone to my liver. I just got the news on Monday. They will put the medi port in on Monday and chemo starts on Tuesday. We are moving fast to try to tackle this. I got through this once with all of your love, prayers, positive thoughts and support and I am really... hoping that you wouldn't mind doing it all over again! I know it's a lot to ask and I really wish I didn't have to ask. I am so sad that my kids and my family have to watch and experience this all again. They shouldn't have to....it is really what hurts right now so if you could find it in you to just keep them in your thoughts and prayers and hug them when you see them I would really really appreciate it! Thanks again for all of the love and support!"

So on Tuesday we hung with "Aunnie" while she had her first dose of chemo...and we'll be there supporting her...

every step of the journey...

RA ~ The Update

Here's where we are at....

Back in March I met with my PCP... she told me some blood work I had done did show a positive Lyme test... I talked to her about how DONE I was with the pain and that we needed to move forward... she agreed and asked me to meet with the new RA doc and she also suggested I get an appointment with a Lyme literate doc...

She pushed through the referral for the Lyme doc and I am not able to get in to see him until the end of August...

In the meantime, I went to see the NEW RA doc on April 20th. While I was getting ready that morning I was thinking about things that he might say that would encourage me to know that I was on the right path of healing and accept this diagnosis. One thing that ran through my mind was if he talked to me like I was his daughter, sister, or other family member...

Within minutes of sitting down with me, my history and what I am currently going through for pain, he said... "If you were MY daughter... I'd be on my hands and knees BEGGING you to take this medication"....

So... the first line of defense with RA is always Methotrexate. Aka....chemo. The dosage that RA patients take is FAR less than cancer patients but you can have similar side effects....

The first week I took 4 pills on Monday and then folic acid once a day every day from now on.... by Monday night I was definitely sick to my stomach and had no appetite. On Wednesday afternoon I had to pull my car over on the side of the road so I didn't get sick IN it....

The next week I took the 4 pills again and the side effects were SO much more MILD. I didn't have much of an appetite but I didn't feel like I wanted to toss my cookies... I feel a little more rundown Tues/Wed but overall not too bad...

This past Monday I took the 8 pills that is the "normal" dosage.... Praising Jesus that my side effects were just like the week before with the 4 pills. Again, I don't have much of an appetite but that is fine... and sleepy for a couple of days....but definitely doable.

I go back to see the RA doc in June for blood work to make sure the drugs are not killing my liver and to see where my pain is at.... so far... it is still the same. My wrists, shoulders and chest bones are the worst... but praying there is some relief in the next few weeks... it will be summer soon after all ;)
