Last Wednesday... the day I NEVER thought would come when I took her to her
KDG screening...
arrived...(insert sobbing crying and fetal position here)
In the blazing heat and sun we sat outside and celebrated the 5th grade class moving onto MMS next year. To say that I am struggling is an understatement. Lord help me if I was doing this and her FATHER WAS NOT IN THAT BUILDING NEXT YEAR.... I know how blessed I am to have him there at the next transition and SIL L to finish my gals education but this Mama heart is REALLY wishing I could put her back in her 5-point harness and throw a cut up PB&J at her and call it good on the way to the park....
The things these kids have overcome the past 18 months....They have gone without friends, they have gone without going TO school, they have gone without sports, they have gone WITH rules and regulations and things they don't understand, they have gone without ANY ACTIVITY THAT DIDN'T REQUIRE A MASK for 18 months.... to come out smiling on top is something that I hope she remembers and I know I am SO PROUD of what these school age kiddos have had to do... (along with their teachers)
This is NOT the childhood I dreamed for my gals but one that we have navigated as a family and done the best we could... feeling grateful that we are the crew we are and that we have the people we do supporting us and them...
Miss S, aka Mrs. Chretien has been SUCH a HUGE and influential person in my gals life. She came to our elementary school when Minnie was in 1st grade and then was told at the end of that school year to go to the principal's office for a meeting... she was freaking out fully expecting that she was going to be FIRED (#crazybestteacherever) but she found out she would be "looping" and teaching her entire class of 1st graders again the next year in 2nd grade. When it came time for Miss B to have a 1st grade teacher... SHE was my absolute choice.
The fact that she is having her OWN baby GIRL in November just puts the cherry on top for our family...
So happy to have the grandparents in attendance... Unfortunately, I had to "uninvite" L&L due to space constraints and "rules" but thrilled we could have the love of these three... they are our village and we could NOT do ANY of it without them. (Mama is already signed up for summer care for the gals on Thursday!!) :)
To say we are PROUD is an understatement. This girl is driven, competitive, smart and when I watched the gals in her class running crazy around in their fancy dresses and high heeled shoes... I saw my gal in her rubber Birks, shorts and t-shirt, quietly swinging and talking to her guy buds, laughing and chilling.
I love this kid.
