Dial UP.... work with me ladies...

Yes, we have dial-up... I KNOW!!! WHO HAS DIAL-UP anymore!?!? :) We do. We are rarely, if ever, on the PC at home other than to check our secondary email accounts... however since the digital camera Christmas we are in the talks phase of doing something else. It is getting VERY annoying to try sending Tracy emails for over 15 min. with pics attached that NEVER go through... and just for the record... SOMEONE hasn't blogged since 12/21....I won't mention any names.... though you may be able to access the blog from the LINK ABOVE!!!! :) :)

We shall see how long it takes to upload the pics from the weekend to this post...I am sensing they may need to be burned to CD and uploaded at work (shocker I know!!)

Friday night was this...*edited to add pics ~

Talking to Brando on the phone....

Dinner and a movie....

Saturday was a chaotic day but a GREAT DAY!!! We attended the wedding of a girl that Husband coached in track and their family have become dear friends to us.

We are especially close to the two younger sisters of the girl that was wed. Are they not GORGEOUS!?

Home quickly to change, throw together Curly Noodle casserole and back out the door to carpool with Jay, Jen and CJ to Taylor Family Christmas...

back out the door from TFC and to the meeting place of L&L's where Rebound and the car were... to watch the sweet 16 of the Pat's beating NY!! :) Well, ok we only stayed until 1/2 time so I could get home to bed... )Husband told me when he came to bed that they won!!) come ON you SAW how busy the day was!!! :)

Today was church (no SS today, starts again next week) and I have to be back there for a multi-church Singspiration ~ I need to se up for the coffee and desserts fellowship to follow the service.
Posting this now but have high hopes of adding some pics perhaps tomorrow?

Do-Over

It's a do-over blog within an original blog. I have not been very good at this and I think it is because I wanted it all to be more profound than I actually am :) So now, it will begin the on-line not so juicy diary of my life...plus, I got a digital camera* for Christmas so that will help. I like to read blogs where people have pictures so I can only assume the same for the two friends of mine that will be reading. (Hi Tracy and Laurie! :))

Absolutely NOTHING too exciting but my life none the less and 99.99% of the time... I LOVE my life :) so allow me to introduce some of the "characters".... Introducing.... Husband... he is of course the most imPORTANT "character" in my life :)

Husband and I met... well, let's see.. we have known each other almost our entire lives.. we have gone to church together (and continue to go to the same church) forEVER. He is 8 years older than me and I love it. We went on our first "official date" the day before Thanksgiving, 2000, got engaged 4/2001 and married 8/25/2001. Yes quick. I believe it was the monumental day when we were driving through the Sebago Lakes region when he looked over at me and said in a VERY matter of fact voice "I'm not going to date you forever you know." Apparantly not, 6 months later. :) He is my rock, my world, my comforter, my provider, my blessing.

We moved into our home that we built 2/2/2002....

We got the best thing we've ever loved together on 3/3/2003....

He is a 7th grade teacher, no I'm NOT sure how he does it. WOW!!! But there are the playful jokes about how he never works that he accepts with the "you could have been a teacher" comment back to whomever is making it...

I work in Investments. Mutual Funds, 401K, Retirement Plans. Wake up. I know you instantly fell asleep. But I love the people I work with... one of them I HAVE to. (He's my brother in the Sytems dept :) and I like the work that I do ~ supporting two CFP's (google it if you don't know what that is and count it as the one thing you have learned today)

I have afore mentioned Brother ~ J, married to Jen, and together they have given me CJ the latest addition to my neices and nephews collection... he was born on 12/12/2007

Husband has two sisters...Older sister Bets who has the gammet of kidlets from Brando the 19 year old son in college playing bball there down to the 5 year old princess Chlobelle of the family and a 12 year old (I'm actually thinking she might be 11...?) Middle Schooler Breezy and an 8 year old hockey star lover Cabub

Then there is the little sister ~ L married to L (more often than not will be refered to as L&L because their names are SO close in pronunciation) who boast Daws and Sky, 9 and 6 respectively.

We are both blessed to have our parents married for more than 70 years combined. Add my grandparents and we are up over 120 years!!!! (pic below are my parents)

So there we go. Caught up to date? Kinda. Perhaps more will come out as I go... maybe not. Post a question if you have one... here we go... I'll try to be better.

*More pics will /could be added at some point this weekend...

And another THING!

I said in my last post... there were two things... here's the other...

Road Rage ~ how do YOU feel about it... how do YOU deal with it?

I don't like to merge. I'll tell yah that RIGHT now. I like to be in the lane that is going straight so that I don't have to bend or compromise or wriggle my way into a line of traffic that really doesn't want me there... I want to BE that person IN the line of traffic.

Yesterday on the way home from the Dr's I was in that straight lane. I know the drill in this particular area. I know the lane next to me is going to end. I am happy in my straight lane. I see a minivan behind me with no one behind her so I think to myself... phew. I'm good. No need to merge, compromise or move out of my nice straight lane. Apparently "minivan broad" had other ideas... she put the pedal to the metal and the next thing I knew she was pushing me into the center line and we had run out of two lanes... I was literally being "pushed" over into on coming 5 o'clock traffic on the most dangerous road in my state. I had to give. My life was flashing before my eyes. She wedged herself in front of me, I glance in my rear view mirror and sure enough there is NO ONE behind me and a line of cars in front of us. She almost killed us!!! For no reason. Its not like she could move FURTHER up the line of traffic. So, I did as anyone in a road rage situation would (should) do... I laid on the horn. For about a 1/2 -3/4 of a mile I just laid on the horn. It was at that point I saw heads bobbing and weaving about in the back of the minivan. HER CHILDREN WERE IN THERE. SHE RISKED LIFE AND LIMB FOR NO REASON and LIFE AND LIMB of those that had no other option but hang on for the ride.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE!!!!

I had a friend once who said... do you want to get there fast or alive?

Uh....ALIVE please!!!!

Looking like your spouse...

Have you ever seen those pictures of people with their pets and the captions that ask you if they look alike and sure enough they DO... someone that owns a poodle and has crazy curly hair themselves... or a little bichon and a cute little "seasoned" lady with the same poofy white hair? On a similar note... how about the pics where the spouses start looking alike? Whether its their dress, or their hairstyle, or body shape? They start truly becoming "one". I had a couple of experiences yesterday that started me thinking on this particular subject...

Husband does NOT like computers. Has NO interest in all they are capable of or in using them just for the simplicity of email. He especially gets worked up over the lack of personal touch. For example, if someone sends him an email and its something that should be handled over the phone or in person he gets a bit wound up... With this particular issue I more often than not, nod my head and smile and agree with him on how there are situations that should be handled not on the email but I am a computer girl... I like them, they interest me, I am proud that I can find you just about anything you need from that great web-site that begins with a "G" and ends with an "oogle"... HOWEVER... here's where it is... I went to the Dr's yesterday and left there thinking about how much I LOVE, respect and AGREE with Husband.

Back-up... this is a new Dr's office to me. I have only been there once...thus yesterday it made my 2nd time ever....the nurse did all the nursey things... height/weight/BP... and I noticed she was entering everything into a laptop. She was not carrying my paper file, she was working the keys...hrrrmm..... when she left me to wait for the Dr. she took the laptop with her. Enter Dr. She had the? (or perhaps another?) laptop with her. She sat down and asked me how I was and how the summer was while opening the screen and clearly mousing around. There was no eye contact there was no warm and fuzzy (as my friend Rebecca likes to say). The appt was just a quick check-up so I was only in the office for about 10 -15 min. with the Dr. but during that short time I was mentioning a few things that happened over the summer that were LIFE ALTERING. She did not GLANCE UP from the laptop. At one point it apparently "died" she tried to continue on with the conversation while clearly being distracted by the fact that her PC was not working. At the end of the appt she wrapped things up and out the door she went with laptop under her arm.

Now...I get it. I understand this is the direction in which the world, the times, are headed. In fact I told Husband when I got home that if I happened to need the ER that night they would be able to do a quick search in the computer system, see that I had been to the Dr's that afternoon, see the BP as of 4:30 and know what I weighed in at 'round that time. HOWEVER, (here's where I tied it all together with Husband who believes in a simpler time) you are my Dr. You are my primary care physician and while I understand the convenience of the PC, you forgot to look me in the eye and remember that you are dealing with a human being who had some LIFE ALTERING events happen to her this summer and she could have used a little "warm and fuzzy". Amen Husband. Amen.

Tagged? Who knew such a thing existed after 3rd grade....

When the boys on the play ground got you and you were SUPPOSED to kiss them... BLECK. Boys are gross... well... they were back then. I'm kinda partial to the one I live with now :) Anyway... back to this "tagging" business.... Good idea T... tag Julia so she blogs!! :)

J
Juice... I never drink it... I don't drink anything that I have to take insulin for.. seems a waste of good insulin that could have been used to let chocolate melt in my mouth
U
Uh...seriously...does ANYONE know a word that applies to my life that starts with U?
L
I LOVE love... no really... I love love stories, I love things in the Bible that relate to love, I love weddings, I LOVE LOVE
I
I wish I had a better imagination. Sometimes I see my friend Rebecca playing with her son and/or other kidlets in the area and the games she comes up with makes me wish I could be more imaginative...
A
Apples: I'm allergic... unless they are cooked. That stupid chemical that is in the skin of harder type fruits, peaches, necterines, cherries, etc. makes my mouth all itchy. Its a shame really because I do love fruit (just not the juice... see "J")

Simplify Time

So I mentioned in my previous post about how we are going to start simplifying....I thought perhaps I would start with our time... how do you simplify time? Where you spend it, whom its with, what you are doing, how much is spent at home vs. out and about....

This weekend, Labor Day...begins the fall routine and SCHEDULES. I LOVE schedules... I love routine, I love calendars, I love planning and I LOVE being busy. I think simplifying my (our) time is going to be one of my biggest challenges... Especially when the weekend looks like this....

Tonight we were supposed to help some very dear friends paint their son's new room and their new addition however that is now not going to happen... a free night? What to do with a free night... well, perhaps I should go through the rest of the weekend...

Tomorrow we will head to UNH around lunchtime to watch a previous athlete of Husband's and there is an option for a BBQ afterwards at her parents home.

Sunday there is of course church, then at 3PM we (when I say "we" I mean Husband) have our annual fantasy football draft... which for the women and children that don't participate it is loads of eating tasty football food, playing outside with the kids, and eating some more.

Monday there is another BBQ (it IS Labor Day weekend after all) at my Sister in laws (SIL) in honor of my nephew who is going away to college for the first year...

So I revert to my title... Simplify Time.... and the fact that our Friday night is now free....yes...I think that it will stay that way.

Day two...this "internet thing"

Really not sure how long this will stay up... at least to the public... perhaps it will be closed down to allow only my close friends and any family that may be interested.... reason being... I'm just not sure about all this "internet stuff".... Husband is REALLY not sure about it and rightly so... I definitely think that the times have changed and not all for the better. Sometimes I think I was born in the wrong era... I much prefer to be cooking, listening to Ella Fitzgerald and doing domestic goddess things than going to work, being on the computer or the phone and racing around life like we have to get it done.

This fall we are (read: I am simplifying and sort of coercing Husband :)) simplifying our life and just not sure that keeping a blog does that... Course I'd like to document it, how we do with our new budget, how we make more free time, how we manage the events that we WANT to do.... so we'll see what Husband and I decide on this whole "internet thing" :)

Everybody's doin' it....

So I got sucked in.... I want to be like the "cool kids"... we'll see if I can keep up... and we'll see if I can handle the fact that I have DIAL-UP internet at home but know that I should not be posting at work.... :) We'll see... I've been on IM with my friend Tracy who has been walking me through this set-up process.. well.. she's been "listening" to me as I growl my way through...she's a good sport. She asked me what I'm going to write about... I have no idea. Does anyone care? I think if its my blog I get to write whatever I want right? WHOOPIEEEE the FREEDOM! I'm looking forward to this.
