Spontaneous

We are CRAZY!!! WILD even! Decided at the last minute to accept the invitation of some friends of ours to watch some local fireworks on their sailboat!!!! How spoiled are WE? :)

I really didn't want to spend Husband's first night home NOT HOME but I am so glad that we went. It was amazing and reminded me again how much I LOVE LOVE LOVE fireworks! :) It is one of my favorite things about summer! :)

Girls Night IN.... NO BOYS ALLOWED!

Last night was "Girls Night IN" :) to have dinner, eat snacks and watch a movie!! The requirements (because I always have to have a "theme" :) were to 1) Wear your comfy clothes/pjs and 2) bring your favorite girls night/movie night snack... some of us are very GOOD at the 2nd rule.. and some of us not so much. :)
Lynne ~ I love that you are the ONLY one paying attention to me TELLING EVERYONE TO SMILE SO I CAN TAKE THEIR PICTURE. :) Pretty sure Mama H was telling a very animated story at this point judging by the expressions on the other girls faces :) Mystery solved. Now we know where PQ gets his "ladies man" face. :) Just look at his Mama :)This pic is for Heidi Bree... and Laura Jane since she is out there and I hope will see this post while she is visiting :) mmmmmmm H.B. its a WHOOPIE PIE!!! :) :) Gin with decisions, decisions... oh what, pray tell, will she choose..... Huh? :) you try to figure out the medly she's got goin' on in here. :)

Def. a great time had by all and pretty sure this will become an annual event. Not sure we'll watch a movie every year but there will be something fun that's for sure!!! :) :)

See OBoyz... aren't you sad you opted not to come??????????????? :)

Fun from Mrs. P

Four Worms and a lesson to be learned

A minister decided that a visual demonstration would add emphasis to his Sunday sermon.

Four worms were placed into four separate jars.

The first worm was put into a container of alcohol.

The second worm was put into a container of cigarette smoke.

The third worm was put into a container of chocolate syrup.

The fourth worm was put into a container of good clean soil.

At the conclusion of the sermon, the Minister reported the following results:

The first worm in alcohol - Dead.

The second worm in cigarette smoke - Dead

Third worm in chocolate syrup - Dead

Fourth worm in good clean soil - Alive.

So the Minister asked the congregation - What did you learn from this demonstration?

Maxine was sitting in the back, quickly raised her hand and said,

'As long as you drink, smoke and eat chocolate, you won't have worms!'

That pretty much ended the service --

Notta One

Did not even take ONE picture this weekend... though that is probably good where you all are concerned considering I spent most of Saturday cleaning my house :) yucky. Who wants pics of a dirty fridge? :) I suppose I could have done the before and afters but that's a little embarrassing :)

Got to eat dinner with this family Saturday night at their house before they came to my house to pick me up for Bible study... got to hang out with this family Sunday afternoon during a "wicked" thunderstorm.... and had a very nice spontaneous visit from this girl Sunday night.

I am a lucky girl! :)

Husband has checked in every day. He is actually (and I don't mean to sound surprised but often they get nothing!) catching a TON of fish. He says it has slowed down today (he was out at 6:15AM) but they are still getting hits so he's having a blast :)

And he's off....

It sure is NOTHING like what this girl is going through.... but I am sad and will be missing my best friend while he is gone.....

How will I stay happy and distracted you ask?

A baseball game, time with girl friends, blogging, a sleepover with my Mum, dinner with "not technically family but still family", Diabetic RN appt (what? How is THAT happy??), re-working one of my flower gardens, cleaning the house, finishing the ironing I started 3 days ago.... you get the drift....

Interruption to your regularly scheduled silence....

I went at lunch to pick up Husband's truck from the service center where he was having tires put on.... small talk with the "kid" and the guy behind the counter...

"Kid": This isn't THE Mr. "Husband" truck like from (insert school name here)

Me: Oh yes... it is :)

"Kid" Oh! He was my track coach in high school

Me: (pregnant pause) Me too! :)

tee hee hee :) I LOVE LOVE LOVE it when those funny opportunities come up :)

Now back to our break.... ahhhhhh.....

unBElievABLE. One word. It was like nothing I could have even imagined or wrapped my head around. Sure I tried before they left, but NOTHING could have prepared me for what we saw, and we were only there for the LAST DAY. The phrase goes "A picture is worth a thousand words"...see for yourself.

Prayer Requests

Today (Friday) my SIL and nephew are taking off on a trek across our state, by bicycle. They start today and end on Sunday traveling an average of 60 miles each day. Math is not my strong subject but I just used a calculator and yes.... that is 180 miles over three days. An average of about 6 hours each day on their tandem bike.

They are doing it in honor of my FIL for the American Lung Association. I cannot express how PROUD of them I am. How much these two are stepping WAY out of their comfort zone. How amazing I think it is that a mother would guide and try to ease her children through the grieving process with something so positive.

Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers this weekend. For safety, for good weather, for dry air, light traffic on their route, for no mechanical troubles, for good health, for bodies that are able to keep up with how far they are pushing them, for traveling mercies of my BIL and Sky who are in a vehicle to meet them at rest stops, for Sky to be patient and understanding, and for good food that extremely picky SIL will eat to recharge her slightly anemic-self!! :)

We are going up on Saturday night and will meet up with everyone for dinner. Sunday we will all caravan to the finish line. I cannot WAIT to see them cross! So proud.
