Catchin' up

We "all" (not me) *thought* spring was here....

But it was nice to see a few glimpses of it and a couple of 60+ degree days...

Jammies, memory and hair salon... I LOVE it when they are BFF's...

This guy is hanging in... no better no worse... he goes in tomorrow for his day at the Vet... no food or drink after 10PM tonight...

Chicks are getting back on it after a few cold weeks of taking a break....

Crazy colors....

and speaking of CRAZY.... Crazy Hair day at school....her choice.... my morning project before 7AM

Miss B was able to do a sewing class with a LOT of her 3rd grade buds, including the one she got a gift certificate for for her birthday! :)

her absolute fav....

After Miss B's class we got together with our friends for a BBQ... there are THREE additional children that are NOT shown... man we have a gaggle of kids between 3 families ;)

BUT I wouldn't trade it for the world with this crew... So much fun FINALLY being together again!

Considering a year ago our visit looked like this....

On Friday, Husband sent me a chat message saying that he was starting to move a kidney stone... he was fairly miserable by Friday night and called his specialist to see about getting an updated Rx. Because it has been several years since he has been there and because his doctor has left... they said they couldn't be certain that it was a stone and to go to the ER with any pain. Um. What? He had scans in September from the oncologist and there were MULTIPLE stones in EACH kidney... but you can't be "certain"?  How about trusting the patient who has had extensive experience with stones!?!? I was NOT.HAPPY. Saturday, he woke up still in pain but able to stay on top of it by taking prescription doses of Advil and moving. On Saturday night... it went downhill. We were up all night, he could not get comfortable and he was down for the count right after church....

He laid down immediately when we got home and did not get up until about 5:00 when I finally convinced him to take a bath and eat something around 6...thankfully he was able to sleep on Sunday night but stayed home from work and the 1st day of TRACK (which didn't even happen when he had his colon surgery I don't think!) trying to get a plan to get rid of the stone. The specialist wants a referall and for him to go to the ER, the Dr says go to the ER.... why won't people just schedule an X-RAY so that you can figure out where it is, if his kidney is swelling and if he can pass it.... none of it makes sense to me.... everyone passing the buck...

So today he is back up and at 'em.... full 10+ hour day and says "it's mostly just uncomfortable" :( poor guy!

The Weekend Report

I mean, this is a NORMAL list right? Like, OTHER people have lists like this left on their counter on a Friday night for an early Saturday morning? Right?

I guess if you are planning on THIS bright and early that list DOES make sense :) I  hope *think* Saturday was the final day of the season. My crew definitely had a GREAT season and made the most of the ice for sure!

Guinny always brings the best snacks! :)

Ack this girl is so amazing!!! She is her father's daughter for sure and this season of standing on the hard water is by far her favorite!

Meanwhile.... Miss B asked me to come pick her up after my pedi with GA

hee hee warm sunshine in the windows, cozy blanket from Mimi and her dog at her feet. Happy girl!

We turned on Sky's game and had so much fun watching it!!! Even if the technology wasn't GREAT... we had both the laptop and the TV going and they would go back and forth between being 10 seconds off.... but it did make it nice when we missed who scored the goal and we could rewind... :)

FOUR of them were scored by this ROCKSTAR! POOR KIDDO with the bruises!!!

On Sunday my boss and I made a trip to the "big building" to see my school RN who had her baby 9-10 weeks early :( Poor thing... we had a collection from the staff at school to drop off to her like gas gift cards, cash and food gift cards.... we took these two big girls with us :)

When we got home they wanted to continue on to the Penney house so Mama got some outside hangin' time...

and the silly kids we saw when we got there to pick them up...

This kid CRACKS me up.... laughter is good for the soul....and he knows it!

LAST Weeks Goings On....

Annoying sensor for 10 days... it was off THE ENTIRE 10 DAYS between 20-50 points.... SOOOO ANNOYING!!!

Redneck sightings at Tractor Supply

A quick trip to the beach before Miss B had MORE restorative care on her teeth...

My girl is so brave at the dentist.....he must have asked her no less than 12 times if she was doing ok and if she was alright and it wasn't until we got in the car to go HOME that she said... "Mom...that hurt the WHOLE time... I didn't like that at ALL" :(

Got home in time to watch Sky on the TV... which is awesome... except for the fact that NOTHING gets done because she plays the WHOLE game :) hee hee hee

Homemade Mac! YUMMY!

The perfect biolage that cost her NOTHING since it is all summer grow out... people pay BIG money for highlights like this....

Couch snuggles....

Defense

The big guy has been not quite himself for several weeks.... the "incident" did not help matters and it got to the point where it was time to call the Vet... on Saturday, 3/6 I was at a conference and got home before my crew who was ice fishing all day... when I came in he didn't get up off his bed which isn't too different and about 45 minutes later Husband got home. Defense of course excited to see Daddy's truck got up quickly and it was all over but the cryin'. His back was arched in a NOT normal way and he was just crying crying crying. The crew in the truck heard it and thought it was an animal down the road. :( I wish.

He's been crying when he gets to the top 2-3 stairs. He is fine when he goes down the stairs and fine when he is playing around outside but any sort of incline causes crying.  I called the vet that we went to this summer because I just have not had a great feeling with the one we've been using. They were able to get him right in the next evening... even accommodating Husband's and my work schedules AND letting us BOTH be in there with him. The vet came in and evaluated him and said that she is fairly certain he has torn both "ACL's" (or the equivalent of what dogs have) and has built up scar tissue but not enough to support his size.

Now he is at the point where sometimes he gets up in the morning to turn around on his bed and he is crying... we have him on anti-inflammatory meds and last week we started him on pain meds. We were trying to do right when Husband wakes up and then again as soon as he gets home from school but we didn't feel like it was cutting it. The vet called again to check in on Saturday (so nice of them to keep following up) and over the weekend we added an afternoon dose. Sweet Heather was going to pop by today to give him his lunchtime one.

We have another appointment on 3/31 for the full work-up of X-rays and checking to see if there is anything else that we might be missing.

We know he's a big doofus but we sure do love him a lot and HATE HATE HATE the crying in pain. It's just too much for everyone :(

What's Been Going On...

I will do a follow up post specific to this guy... but he has been all consuming our thoughts....

Not much as been going on....one random chicken nugget diner night with friends

and a PB pie in honor of PI day...

Stay tuned for the post about Defense... and while things have been quiet for a couple weeks we are gearing up.... Husband should be cleared to have a Track and Field season, I am organizing a virtual 5K to raise money for the 5th grade class and there is talk of perhaps a spring soccer season... all of that feels a little overwhelming and really nice at the same time....
