Christmas 2020

At 12:00 on the day before break Husband's boss came to him and told him he had been identified as a "close contact" with someone that tested positive for Covid-19. Husband only had 1 absence on Monday/Tuesday so he knew without a doubt who it was. He KNEW he was NEVER within 6 feet (always wearing a mask) never mind 3 feet and not for more than 15 minutes.... which would make him NOT a "close contact" however the rules are the rules and he was sent home to quarantine and start his vacation "safe at home". We told our families, he scheduled a test and he hung out at home. After a negative test and some conversations it was decided that we would forego our tradition of going to the CountryRents on Christmas morning and head over once he was "freed". Although the gals were sad and we were bummed to not have our tradition... it all ended up a blessing since as you can see from these pictures there was a bit of a situation with the tree.... on Christmas Eve, Husband unplugged the tree, said goodnight to Defense and heard the unmistakeable sound of the tree starting to fall... he was able to catch it but then he was STUCK. He couldn't let go or it would surely hit the TV, he couldn't holler for fast asleep ME... so he tried to shove it back into the stand. Thank GOODNESS Minnie woke up (the ONLY time I might be happy she is SUCH a light sleeper!) Poor girl thought Santa was there and she shouldn't go across the balcony to the bathroom... Husband saw her and told her to come and wake me up... we were able to get it at least stationary and then propped it with the step ladder for the night...

Ready for ALL the adventures... snowmobile, 4-wheeler or motorcycle ;)

By 8:57 AM this was the view of my tree, the ornaments all taken care of and back in the basement, my living room all put back together, vacuumed and I was NOT MAD about that ;)

I also was NOT MAD about this amazing gift from Husband! He went above and beyond (as usual at Christmas! ;) with the help up his little Elves (SIL L and Sky) and I am now NOT COLD when I walk outside... nor will I get wet... I am in LOVE with my new jacket... it's so cozy, so warm, so functional... now bring back sports so I can watch my kid play soccer in the pouring rain and not get WET!! :)

We headed over to MIL's for lunch and while it was not ALL the normal crew it was still a FUN crew...

The sign of a Christmas day well spent ;)

My view from the kitchen that night... Mimi jammies on and playing games on the new squishy carpet... my heart was full and happy....

Gotta love when you get new jammie bottoms for Christmas and they match the well-loved, well-worn, well-faded top you already wear from your big cousin... so funny!
It was not the day we had hoped or our "normal" but it was a great day all around and kinda nice to have the slower pace (minus the mad rush to get the tree down safely ;)

Meeting Clay

On Saturday we were invited to meet the newest C family member... he's such a teenie peanut and so so cute! I took a million pictures and I'm not sorry at ALL for posting ALL of them! :)

I HATE the masks but I LOVE that you can totally tell Minnie is BEAMING behind it. Those eyes give it away every.time. :)

Miss B loved her snuggle-fest with him but I think she liked THIS snuggle-fest better ;)...

Snowstorm 2020

"Kevin" got cocoa ready for the gals complete with THREE marshmallows... Momma NEVER gives THREE!

Around 2PM Heather and I met up for an adventure with the dogs... we thought about blazing a trail down the tote road but I'm REALLY glad we just stuck to our main road... I mean poor 160lb Defense was BURIED!!!

Koda loved it a bit more than my old man ;)

I love being able to see friends, be encouraged to get OUT in the weather and have a fun adventure without even leaving my property :)

Poor FedEx guy that had left our house... waited for Husband to plow the main ROAD for him to start going up... but then he pulled OVER for the REAL plow truck (that had not even touched the road yet) and he got stuck... of course the crazy dogs wanted to play and "help" him so Heather and I told him we'd run them home and be back with my truck, shovels and chain...

Course after walking the 1/2 mile home, wrangling two dogs, a couple of kids and unburying MY car someone had pulled him out. Phew! Cuz not sure she and I ultimately would have been much help. Ha! Ha! :)

All said and done I think we were close to 18-20". So thankful for Husband who did all the clean up at our house, plowed out MIL AND took care of some friends who's tractor broke. I didn't see him ALL DAY but he is SO AMAZING and we are all SO THANKFUL for all he did. Typically we get these sorts of storms when he's on an ice fishing trip ;) SO HAPPY he was home for this one!

FINALLY....

This is the extent of decorating this year... no stairs... no deck doors... just this. And I'm totally OK with it...

Friday Night Fun!

Gals asked if they could have the Penney gals over for a sleepover and it really is always more fun with friends... especially ones that bring SUGAR SUGAR AND MORE SUGAR! Gingerbread houses and ice cream sundaes!

I love that this girl ends up like this every.single.time. My kinda sleepover friends... the ones that fall asleep at 8:15 Ha Ha! :)

Gals were all so excited to sleep in the playroom on the NEW SQUISHY CARPET!

Course they only made it from 9PM-6AM but I guess all things considered that's not a bad "sleep" over :)

Woke up Saturday morning to do a little math... I mean seriously...

Made sugar cookies, played outside and went sledding....

Happy filled-up gals for SURE!
