MONTHS ago we made plans to go away for the weekend with the Trem and H couples to celebrate our 20th anniversary and their 10th and 10th respectively ;) We rented an AirBnB in NH and decided ... no kids allowed :)
We love to do pizza nights and hang out all together but it was so nice to have uninterrupted conversations and hang out time. Gals and I shopped on Saturday while the guys played an amazing golf course that was about a mile from the house....
I ALWAYS regret it when I don't stop and take the picture... sadly we got all dressed up for dinner on Saturday night and had an amazing Italian meal and not ONE couples picture..... I snag things like THIS... I mean come ON! :) The guy who taught math for 22 years with the high school economics teacher figuring out the bill....
and pictures like THIS.... HAHAHAHA
The one and ONLY picture of all of us together hanging out on Friday night... Husband grilled amazing burgers and we just chatted the night away!
So fun... minus the drama of CountryMouse which I am posting here at the end for memories sake but not choosing to include it above... I was due for a site change on Friday night but had plenty of insulin to make it until Saturday morning. While I was packing at home on Friday I was a little distracted by Miss B who received her first $titchFix box. Rightly so... what girl ISN'T excited by a box full of new clothes that someone else picked out... but I know I was in my closet making sure I had all my supplies and back-ups to the back-ups... fast forward to Saturday morning just before Husband left to play golf with the boys and I am searching EVERYWHERE... and no kit.... DEVASTATED doesn't begin to cover it... we are an hour and 1/2 from home, dinner reservations at 4 and we only had 2 cars between the 3 couples and mine was going to the golf course until noon.... tears and weeping and texting furiously with SIL L and asked if they would meet us 1/2 way after Miss B's soccer game which meant we needed to be dressed and ready for dinner by 2pm.... she THANKFULLY AGREED and the whole crew L&L, Minnie and Miss B drove 45 min to give Mama her kit.... site change in the car on the way to the restaurant and time with my man alone in the car... I guess it all worked out OK...
until... a completely unrelated disaster but equally as annoying and frustrating and all MY irritation... I was the last one up on Saturday around 7:15... came down to sit and chit chat, zip around on my phone, have some coffee... I went up to take a shower and start packing and when I got out of the shower thought I should probably turn my volume up because I figured the gals would be calling and I didn't want to miss them...
my phone completely froze... so I put it to sleep and tried to bring back and screen and NAH-THIN. It had been charging ALL night... I brought it downstairs to see if my techie friends to could do anything.. they googled/youtubed/and searched and we got NAH-THIN... living off the grid would be OK with me if I didn't NEED to be connected to this phone with my DEXCOM. So annoying to not have quick and easy access to my blood sugars. The good news is that it connects to my pump so I was still able to keep reading but the bad news was I now have a limited time (8 days from the loss of my phone) before needing to get a new one set up as my transmitter.
Thank GOODNESS for "Bob" and Aunt Nancy who jumped right in, grabbed a spare phone that Husband's cousin wasn't using and by about 8:00 Sunday night I was up and running... temporarily but at least enough to be able to monitor sugars... no idea what happened to any text messages that were sent and I'm SUPER sad I don't have any of my saved strings with my contacts but I still have a little hope... we'll see....
