Poor SIL J struggles with dinner items because of picky JJ and all the things from childhood that he WILL.NOT.EAT. :) Tonight I made biscuits to go with our crock pot pot roast and I was reminded of a sweet treat that JJ DOES like from our childhood :) He made them often and I heard him say recently that he LOVES them... :) Just to tuck away for a cold rainy day Jen...

Mrs. W (i.e. Aunt Eleanor I think??)

preheat 400 degree oven

2 c flour

4 tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

1 tbsp sugar

3 heaping tbsp shortening

Add all ingred. above and cut together with two forks or a pastry blender ~ add and mix well

1 c milk

Flour everything your dough is going to touch and roll out thin

Here's where our variation comes in...

Spread LIBERALLY with margarine

sprinkle cinnamon

sprinkle (kinda heavy) brown sugar

Roll up and cut ~ place sideways on a cookie sheet

Bake for 7-15 min. (honestly, I forgot to set the timer and CountryMum's recipe doesn't say "for how long" :)

They are best served warm... you could make a glaze as well and that would be Delicious! :)

Weekend Re-cap

Friday I had to go to the "big city" to take an exam... in the same plaza was this building... does this MEAN anything to anyone? :) Am I AT the right place that I'm thinking I'm at in my mind? Only one person can answer that... the rest of you... well... scroll on down to the rest of the weekend :) Friday night we had some friends over for dinner and then some additional friends came a little later to watch a movie. Our hope was to do a "sit-in" instead of a "drive in" and watch a movie projected outside on the back of the house... Rain hindered that plan but Techie JJ rigged it all up inside, we stayed dry and warm, and the 18 foot wall worked just fine....grab your snacks and let's go!!!

I love how SIL L AND Rebound BOTH think GA is a little kookie :) Good thing she's cute :)
And there's JJ w/ J... don't worry he did actually make it onto the couch to sit with her during the movie... he was graciously taking care of hitting "play" :) Saturday AM, Laura Jane came over so I could do her hair and make-up for a wedding she was in the next town over. CountryMum took the pic but we didn't grab any of her? :( Sad.

Hanging out on Sunday, watchin' football and smelling the pot roast in the crock pot is not a bad way to finish off the weekend... ahhhhh

OUCH!!!

Husband managed to get himself wrangled into a yellow jacket's nest... He ended up with SEVEN stings and these are three out of the four worst. You're welcome for not taking a picture of the 4th worst! :) ACK!"Normal" elbow...
NOT so "normal"....Glory... what do YOU think??? :( I'm afraid his body is starting to not be able to handle the stings... pretty concerned about what happens the NEXT time he gets stung... :( I think this is ONE of those seldom times I'm not a HUGE fan of living in the woods... :(

Few new household items... pretty psyched about the first one! :)

it was 45 degrees this AM when I got in my car to come to work... time to update the blog with some fall foliage...
