Just a LOT

This is one of those wordy posts.. the ones that no one is here for but I want to document... a little over a week ago I left work to pick up Miss B at her after school care... Husband had practice... Minnie had practice at her school.... Miss B and I were planning on hitting town to exchange one of her Easter gifts that didn't fit... Minnie and Husband were on dog duty when they got home... a normal afternoon....

When I got to Julie's she was still at the end of her driveway waiting for the bus...that happens sometimes depending on my traffic and the bus driver's traffic... I didn't think anything of it... when I stopped and opened my window to chat with her she said there is a "situation" in town... What!? Insert Husband calling me... I ask if I can call him back and I can tell in his voice that something is off... but he says sure... the bus shows up and Miss B apologizes for being late because their bus got all rerouted and she starts chatting... I call Husband back and he tells me that there is an active shooter in our town... WHAT!?!? He says they have put the high school campus in a lockdown and he is in the gym... Immediately we start trying to figure out Minnie because she always takes a bus from her school to meet up with him... he says he was told those buses are not running... we chat more about who he can call that is over there (love our Trailblazer family) Miss B and I talk about going home not knowing when Husband and Minnie will get to the dog but she starts freaking about NOT going home with all that is going on... Husband and I decide that it can't be THAT long so she and I continue on to our errands... I texted Husband when we got to town and long story longer this is how it went down... a message I sent to Tamarah...

So they put the campus in lockdown... took everyone there for lax scrimmage, sports practices etc and had them go into the gym for lockdown.... communication in that space was HORRIBLE... Husband was told a million different things and after being told that Minnie's school was in lockdown and no buses were running but then the buses showed up.... her bus drove her down the bus barn road and asked her if she saw her dad she said no but I see his truck... so she OPENED THE DOOR and said "have a nice afternoon".... she left my kid at the stadium ALONE.... WHILE THE ENTIRE CAMPUS WAS IN A LOCKDOWN.... Minnie saw all the LAX girl's bags lining the field... she KNEW they were in a lockdown... and just started walking around looking for SOMEONE....

THANK GOODNESS Husband saw the bus coming back down the bus barn road and took off running to get to her so she would see him but OH.MY.WORD. I WAS NOT OK...
If this was ANYONE ELSE... ANYONE in the community you know they would be ROASTED on social media... it would NOT go well...

Poor Minnie was TERRIFIED...She would not ride the bus, rightly so... and I made a phone call as a PARENT... NOT A STAFF MEMBER to the director of transportation. They ALL HAD RADIOS. This needs to NEVER EVER EVER happen again. Ever. To anyone.
