Nannie

Edna M. Wilcox, 93, formerly a longtime resident of Buxton Road, died in the early hours of July 4, 2010 at the SouthRidge Rehab & Living Center.

She was born in Augusta on June 4, 1917 the daughter of Henry and Addie (Reynolds) Leeman and spent her childhood in Lewiston; where she also received her education.
Edna worked at Murphy’s Furs in Lewiston as a young woman; where her charm and innocence lead her to become a buyer for the company as well as being a model.
She married Norman Wilcox on October 4, 1947 and they made their home together in Saco. With two young children, Edna not only kept the household running, but she worked at a children’s shop in Biddeford and then worked at Schlosberg’s in Portland in the accounting department.
Mrs. Wilcox enjoyed raising her own vegetables and worked many hours in kitchen canning her bountiful harvest. She was generous with her neighbors and friends and couldn’t resist collecting “tried and true” recipes.
As an avid reader, Mrs. Wilcox read a variety of authors but her favorite articles were in the medical field. She held a special fondness for dogs and birds. She and her husband enjoyed square dancing and traveling in their camper; and belonged to the Good Sam Camping group.

Mrs. Wilcox was an active member of the Congregational Church. She is survived by her son, James Wilcox and wife Nancy; four grandchildren, Country Mouse, JJ, Robert and James and five great - grandsons and one great-granddaughter.
She was predeceased by her husband, Norman and by her daughter, Norma Lee Wilcox Frazier and by two brothers, Richard and Reynold Leeman and by one sister, Esther Simonitti.
